Keys and mouse actions (v2.8 and v2.7x)

  • Alt+S in edit mode: Scale along normals and extrude
  • '.': Center selection
  • ',': Orientation mode pie menü
  • '/': Local view (hide other objects and focus on the selected)
  • P in edit mode: Separate
  • O in edit mode: Proportional editing on|off - Influence size with Mouse Wheel
  • L in edit mode: Select linked
  • W in object|edit mode: Selection mode cycling
  • F3 in object mode : Operator search
  • CTRL+B: Bevel Edges
  • CTRL+R: Loop Cut and Slide (cut number up|down with MWHEEL)
  • Alt+MMB: Center view to mouse (v2.80)
  • Alt+Select in edit mode: Loop selection
  • Shitf+TAB: Snap to Grid on/off
  • Shift+RMB: Set 3D cursor

Color Management tips

  • Scene settings in v2.7x -> Color Management -> False color: To check over/underexposed areas

Cycles noise reduction tips

  • Keep color components about 0.8 and increase the light instead.
  • Area Lamps: Use Light Portals
  • World -> Settings ->Multiple Importance
  • Light Paths:
    • Limited global illumination preset (v2.7)
    • Caustics
      • Filter Glossy above 1 (accuracy drawback) 
      • Turn off Caustics if it is unnecessary (eg. no transparent, translucent objects used)
    • Clamping: Direct Light: about 10, but 0 for final renders
  • Emitter objects
    • Light Falloff node -> Smooth factor
    • Multiple importance sampling on
  • Post Processing:
    • Dither: above 1.0
